The Beginning of the End
Quote of the Week
Me: (Defending Lord of the Rings) It's a really complex and fascinating mythology. There's something about the characters that has universal appeal...everyone identifies with them on some level.
Mindy: Yeah, but why do they have those weird shoes and faces and stuff?
*Sigh* My winter break is coming to an end. Actually, classes don't start until the 17th, but I'm headed back to Worcester a bit early to finish up some personal administrative stuff like filing and fellowship applications (read: snacking and laundry). Its been a restful break...perhaps too restful. It took a tremendous amount of wheedling and idle threats from my Mom and Dad to get me even thinking about packing today. I chose to watch "Legally Blonde" on TBS in lieu of preparing for tomorrow's 8:40am flight.
Saturday was my Mom's birthday, as well as my friend Tad's. After attending Tad's b-day open house thrown by my dear pal Sarah (who actually made me chess-piece shaped cookies for Christmas in reference to one of my blog postings), Mindy and her boyfriend Raphael "stopped by" my house "for a few minutes." They ended up being lovingly force-fed spicy beef kebabs and coerced into doing karaoke until midnight by my family.
Paul Farmer is speaking in Grand Rapids today. If you are reading this and are in GR, go see him at Calvin College at 12:30pm!
Oh dear...getting a little 3:00am wooziness. I've been staying up ridiculously late recently to feed my newly acquired "The L-Word" addiction.
must hit the hay now...
