Holiday Menu Highlights

This one goes out to the waitress at HoToy Polynesian and Chinese restaurant!

Road food (i.e. the 14-hour Drive from Worcester, Mass to Grand Rapids, MI with former roomie Leia): 14 TLC multigrain crackers, 1 regulation-size granny smith apple, 2 slices Sabarro pizza, 1 fountain Sprite, 1 almond joy bar @ 2:00am

The Cookie Count: sugary frosted variety-14; Mrs. Fields choco-chip cookies from mall-4; No bake peanuty chocolate cookies while watching 'Superman Returns' on DVD with family-4...okay,5, jeez; crappy Danish butter tin ones on Christmas day-2; Christie's sisters Christmas cookies-2 (plus one "buckeye"); German almond cookies from neighbor-3; Wow...that's a lot...

Worst food moment: Last night at "On the Border" faux Tex-Mex restaurant while eating a reunion meal with my four college roommates and dear friends, the waitress brought me a "vegetarian enchilada plate" smothered with beef sauce. The worst part is that I only realized halfway through the second enchilada. The rest of the night was full of fond memories, great laughs, and marathon sprints to the toilet every 45 minutes or so.

Daydream food: I keep thinking about that veggie lasagna at Ciao Bella in Worcester...mmmm...veggielicious...

Moment of horror indirectly related to food intake: As I shopped for a decent pair of jeans with my sister this week, I was horrified to discover that my pasta/beer/cake diet of the past semester has directly resulted in my pants size plunging deeper and deeper into the double digits.

"On the Border" sucks the big time. The waitress there did, however, provide me with a thorough vegan meal. She even was knowledgeable about the ingredients of the dishes and warned me about the "Spanish rice" which is cooked with chicken broth. "Chevy's" is a far better Tex-Mex chain, if you have it in Grand Rapids.

Of course, you wouldn't have to worry about such veg. errors in Chicago, as I have already vetted almost every non-chain, half-way vegetarian restaurant in the metropolitan area. So get down here!
